Only In the Mind of Stockfish...

...could things be so cut and dried as its evaluations in this game between an unknown player and Stanley Chadwick showed.  Some of the variations led to positions that were best described by Simon Cowell when he told contestants on American Idol that their performance was "a complete and utter mess." I like that phrase; it describes some of the positions perfectly. Stockfish may have had a clear idea of their outcome, but for humans things probably would not have been so easy. If you want to see what I mean, try playing out some of the positions in the notes against an engine.  Your results may vary.
Both sides made mistakes, but Chadwick played better overall and the way he drove white's King to its doom is fascinating to watch.
